so i guess this must be winter, right? the view outside of my window looks a lot like the view on my desktop right now. trees, snow and a white sky. at least the sun's putting a bit of an appearance in behind the clouds. i even managed to leave work with a little bit of daylight the other day. which is always nice. in fact, leaving work is more or less the only good thing about being there in the first place. but still, it could be worse. it's not as if i have to spend every friday night there. except that it is. which is starting to grate a little now. eventually i'll start caring enough to seriously start doing something about it. but at the moment i don't, got other stuff to worry about really. one month and counting..... it can only be downhill from here.

2005 is brought to you in association with the letter B
it didn't look like the year was gonna be too for music and artiists in the key of B - what with the sad demise of busted, and that b*ddingfield chap releasing some more of his standard pap. however, hope is at hand! there are reasons for those of us who don't happen to run a greetings card shop or florist to be happy about today. the fabulous bloc party's equally fabulous new album silent alarm is out. their single so here we are is at number 5 in the hit parade - thought to be fair it's really not their best. in other news on the B front, the equally brilliant, if slightly less mainstream, accessible and london, british sea power are back soon with a new album, starting out with single it ended on an oily stage. bsp are quirky and unique and hard work at times i think, but the decline of... is still one of my all time favourite albums so i've gotta say i'm looking forward to the follow up. they're also always a safe bet to be entertaining live, so that should be fun, complete with added shruberries. last but not least on the B front at the bravery who have churned out a couple of fab singles and have an album to follow so fingers crossed on that front too. obviously no-one can replace matt, james and charlie in our hearts (even if you do name check palahniuk in your fightstar song), but we can try and replace them in our cd racks.

i hate daniel beddingfield!
i realise it's very childish and ultimately pointless coming on the internet and writing an extensive rant about a little jumped up ADHD munchkin who is reasonably easy to avoid in my day today life but he really is a little twunt isn't he? firstly i've got major issues with the way he forced himself on an unsuspecting british public by jumping on the whole uk garage scene thing before ditching that the instant he was signed and insisting on churned out drag, dull and dreary ballad after drab, dull and dreary ballad. then he has to be all over the tv performing them like he's been drinking too much orange juice and the e-numbers have gone to his head. the final straw though had to be the brits. not content of being a chump on his own he has to get his sister involved in doing a crumby version of a previously good song. for some reason he thinks that if he jumps about and shouts things while practicing for this years gurning championships it'll be emotional. WRONG!

i could break through the ceiling if i just turned and ran
the problem is that my legs are killing me, so the running for the time-being's reduced to a bit of a dawdle. but the potential's there, or at least it'd be nice to think so. the future's looking bright, there just a little bit of the here and now that's gotta be ventured through before all that stuff. it's nice to have a plan tho. or plans. despite what we all know about the best made plans. which is why they have to be kept vague and non-specific, that way they can be adapted to fit whatever the reality turns out to be, making everyone a winner. but the ceiling's there waiting to be broken through - it's just before you go running you need to get your trainers on and warm up. so this is the warm up. the hard work starts soon.
